Remedial

Remedial massage is aimed at working towards a “remedy” for your soft tissue injury, pain or discomfort. Together with your input, we deliver a treatment that acknowledges your preference for therapist applied pressure, pain tolerance, body shape and injury classification that will best result in:

• A reduction of pain

• An increase in range of motion (flexibility)

• An increase in circulation

• An aid or catalyst to your body’s natural healing mechanisms

• A plan or strategy that assists you through the rehabilitation process

• Post treatment exercises, stretches and advice

The remedial treatment is begun with an assessment of your injury, pain areas, discomfort or reduced range of motion of a joint or limb. After this assessment the proposed treatment is discussed and possible treatment methods chosen. The object is to work in a holistic way to understand the reason/s for the imbalance and heal your body back to its original homeostasis.

Methods may include:

• Mild, moderate or deep tissue work

• Trigger Point Therapy / Myoskeletal Therapy

• Positional Release Techniques

• Muscle Energy Techniques (MET)

• Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF)

• Longitudinal or cross fibre strokes

• Effleurage, Petrissage, Friction, Tapotement, or vibrative strokes
